Evaluating the Friction Characteristics of Pavement Surface for Major Arterial Road

The performance of the pavement in terms vehicle safety and tire wear is affected by friction behavior pavement. To highlight main characteristics that affect production better resistance surface this work. micro-texture macro-texture asphalt Baghdad Airport highway were studied using two methods: (sand patch method British pendulum test). sand was examined drawing grains a specific volume, while analyzed BPT under dry wet conditions. All data obtained from examinations modelled statistically SPSS 25 software. Results show skid increase with MTD, may be due to coarse aggregate which lead roughness surface, ranged between (96 - 91%). MTD decreases traffic flow road tires leading smoothness surface. This mean highly effectiveness (84-97%). Skid also an (81-94%) for both According regression analysis other parameters, it can concluded values are cumulative (asphalt mix deterioration) over time.
